Downtown Oceanside is the historic commercial and cultural center of the city of Oceanside, California. Located just a few blocks from the beach, the downtown area is home to a wide variety of restaurants, cafes, shops, and cultural attractions, as well as numerous events and festivals throughout the year. The city is a vibrant and bustling area with a unique blend of historic charm and modern amenities, making it a must-visit destination for anyone exploring the Southern California coastline.
Research & Development
The Challenge
Mainstreet Oceanside sought to discover and define the identity of the downtown area of Oceanside that it has proudly served for over 20 years. MSO was seeking a partner to help the city and the design committee identifies the best name and visual identity system to carry the city forward in its gentrification project spanning the next 10-15 years. Libre was the winning partner to help accomplish the following:
- Audit of existing assets
- Identity statement
- Development of zones within the defined district
- Visual elements representing the main district
- Map representing district and zones
- Community Outreach
- Fully developed brand, identity, strategy and roadmap to move forward
Branding & Design
Downtown Oceanside brims with history, which has given rise to a vibrant melting pot of diverse people, cultures, and local pride. Guided by the city’s diversity, authenticity, and arts, Libre Design & Digital has set out to develop a distinct identity for Downtown Oceanside. This identity captures the essence of its history, distinctive landmarks, and community, all while contemplating the city’s future trajectory. Through surveys conducted among residents and commuters, profound discussions with key stakeholders, and exhaustive research.
Brand Application
The Results
After 18 months of onboarding, surveys, committee meetings and creative directions, Libre finalized the brand identity for Downtown Oceanside in January of 2024. Libre set out to ensure that the community was heard and ultimately a part of the identity that is Downtown Oceanside. With Downtown Oceansides planned unveiling set for May of 2024 we’re excited to have our hands on the growing identity of this beautiful city on the beach.
