Justin Heit

Founder & Creative Director

As Libre Design’s Founder and Creative Director, Justin has over 16 years of experience leading dynamic design teams in creating tangible marketing and product strategies and bringing brand philosophies to life.

He’s launched several startup brands, including RAEN, a premium handmade eyewear company. As co-founder and creative director, he developed the brand’s DNA from the ground up, leading the overall vision from conception to execution and beyond.

Continuing his brand-building passion, in 2020, Justin also co-founded FIZZ, Australia’s first hard seltzer brand. With nearly two decades of success building brands through product, marketing, and sales initiatives and campaigns, Justin brings a data-driven, results-oriented approach to create and execute customized digital strategies for his clients.

Jeff Cocca

Partner & VP, Digital Strategy

Jeff Cocca is a veteran digital marketing expert with over a decade of experience in the agency space, leading strategies, managing large teams, and working with hundreds of brands across a variety of industries. Clients and colleagues know and refer to him simply as “Cocca,” as he leads the Libre team as Digital Director with a focus on client strategy and execution.

Cocca’s devotion to client satisfaction and his passion for identifying compelling marketing solutions help achieve his clients’ business and marketing objectives, as he continues to build and maintain genuine brand partnerships.

Art Director

Carlos is an absolute force in our world of design. From branding, catalogs, digital assets, websites and everyday production needs, he’s done it all and produces consistently exceptional results. Spending his early career in the action sports industry he knows what it takes to be different and think outside the box.

As Libre’s Art Director, Carlos ensures that the work we produce is done with strategic thought and consideration. Leading our team of designers he ensures we hold ourselves to the standard our clients expect from us. We’re stoked to have his skill sets and we know our clients do too.

Jennifer Fausner

Account & Project Manager

Jen Fausner brings over a decade of experience in the design and digital world working with multiple brands at both large and small agencies. Her background in creative and development management and direction helps deliver creative, functional and properly QA’d solutions across all media types for many brands. Jen drives to consistently achieve client goals with designs that blend creativity and solid, proven techniques while meeting industry-best practices that drive results.

Shannon Flaherty

Senior Graphic Designer

Reformed East-Coaster Shannon Flaherty is a graphic designer/illustrator who can whip up bold graphics, intricate patterns, and fine lines with ease. With experience designing for big brands like Disney and localized brands like URBN Surf, Flaherty’s creative experience is certainly extensive. Inspired by the outdoors and a pint of Guinness, her designs often start with custom illustrations by hand and end up as unique graphic elements. From print to digital, Shannons’ designs aren’t just aesthetic, but customer focused and tested.

2005 — 2009

Libre Design is
born out of passion

After nearly a decade collaborating as art director with media trendsetter, Transworld Media, and Nixon, founder and creative director Justin Heit channeled his passion, industry knowledge, and experience and launched Libre Design in Encinitas, CA.

From Indie-known
to International

Libre partnered with Hawaii-based brand Xcel Wetsuits, With Libre leading creative direction for product development, as well as marketing and sales, Xcel went from an independent company with annual sales of $500K and grew into the number one-selling wetsuit brand nationwide/globally. In 2011, Xcel was acquired by Billabong.

With Libre’s dedication to the future of the surf industry, it created a team of talented and enthusiastic individuals to lead the charge for Surfing Magazine. For the next five years, Libre spearheaded creative direction and collaborated on all photo direction and editorial with the goal of celebrating the unique lifestyle and culture of board riding.

Libre continued building client partnerships, including Tom DeLonge from Blink 182, and the legendary Hard Rock Casino in Las Vegas. DeLonge’s handmade eyewear brand, Macbeth, debuted with creative direction led by the Libre team, plus collaboration with bands including AFI, Taking Back Sunday, Angels and Airwaves, and Blink 182.

In 2009, inspired to start an eyewear brand of his own, Justin guided a core team of designers to develop Libre’s most successful case study to date: RAEN Eyewear. RAEN is a handmade brand that’s one of the fastest-growing independent sunglasses companies on the market today.

2010 — 2022

Saint Archer
Acquisition

Libre was presented an opportunity in the food and beverage industry with a focus on craft beer. With the space ripe for change, the Saint Archer brand emerged in 2013. Libre took lead on all creative direction, as well as a financial position as partner, which led to a $50 million acquisition by Molson Coors just two years after conception.

From Indie-known
to International

Libre partnered with Southern California chain, Daphne’s, in a major rebrand, which included a custom ambassador/surf team led by Kelly Slater as a partner. The brand repositioned itself around health and wellness, as well as an authentic surf lifestyle, leading to a successful sale in 2014 to Victory Park Capital Advisors

Agency of Record for
the World Surf League

In 2015, Libre was named agency of record for the rebrand of the Association of Surfing Pros (ASP) to The World Surf League (WSL), including brand identity, event direction, campaign, messaging, and merchandise. The WSL is dedicated to inspiring a growing, global community to live with purpose, originality, and stoke.

FIZZ. Australia's
fastest-growing seltzer

Libre’s most recent venture, FIZZ, launched in 2020, as Australia’s first alcoholic seltzer brand. Forecasting this megatrend in an untapped market, Libre was instrumental in building an in-house team, as well as a community of strategic partners and ambassadors to create one of Australia’s fastest-growing hard seltzer brands.
